【摘要】:Thistestmethodcoverscellularplastics,whicharecomposedofmembranesorwallsofpolymerseparatingsmallcavitiesorcells.Thesecellsmaybeinterconnecting(opencell),non-connecting(closedcell),oranycombinationofthesetypes.Thistestmethoddeterminesnumericalvaluesforopencells.Itisaporositydetermination,measuringtheaccessiblecellularvolumeofamaterial.Theremainingvolumeisthatoccupiedbyclosedcellsandcellwalls.Sinceanyconvenientlysizedspecimencanonlybeobtainedbysomecuttingoperation,afractionoftheclosedcellswillbeopenedbyspecimenpreparationandwillbeincludedasopencells,(seeNote2).Thistestmethodprovidesgoodaccuracyonpredominantlyhighlyopen-celledmaterials.Bynotaccountingforclosedcellsthatwereopenedduringspecimenpreparation,theaccuracydecreasesastheclosedcellcontentincreasesandasthecellsizeincreases.ThevaluesasstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesinbracketsaregivenforreferenceonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Note1-ThistestmethodandISO4590-1981usethesamebasicprinciplesbutaresignificantlydifferentinexperimentaldetail.Note2-TwoproceduresforcorrectingforcellsopenedduringspecimenpreparationaredescribedinAppendixX1.1.
